N&W had some B8's with rectangular roof hatches.  N&W drawings
identify the cars as having "coke roofs".  Norfolk Southern RAILWAY
had 59 boxes equipped with a hatch roof as late as 1972.  These
were intended for phosphate loading (but were used for hauling paper).
Apparently the mines gravity-loaded mineral freight through the hatches.
Not all consignees had the ability to unload hoppers or covered hoppers,
but relied on box cars.
