Folks (especially Ted Roberts & J Wiley),

I have to confess to being the owner of the http://nwry.railfan.net site. I
have collected a few shots of other E & F units which haven't made it on to
the site, as they had been disposed of by December '68.

They are archived off on CD somewhere, but I'll see if I can dig up anything
useful - I seem to recall a few more shots of ex - WAB units. Any use?

If so, send me your email address, and I'll forward on some JPGs.

Cheers,
Simon Leigh,

J.,

For everyone, here's a pic of one of the leased E8's
that N&W used while waiting for the steam generator
GP9's:

Here's a pic of 3806 in blue with the stripes and a
silver roof:

I've seen pics of N&W F7's in 3 schemes: all black,
all blue, and blue & gray.

I've never seen a pic of an F7 in N&W paint with
stripes. However, some of the blue N&W F7's received a
gray upper carbody (I have a pic of 3726 & 3666 in
this scheme - email me if you want a copy).

Here's 3712 & 3721 in black:

AJ - if you want to run a Powhatan Arrow in your basement with red E8s and
the round end obs, have at it!

J. Wiley and others:

After I wrote a response about the N&W using E's it acquired from the
Wabash, and those it leased from ACL and RF&P, I checked at home for the
reference book I was praising in my post. Its Withers and Bowers' N&W:
First Generation Diesels. Now and Again you will see this book appear at
train shows and book ads in magazines. This book does a good job of listing
the rosters of that generation of diesels, and has some photographs
including some in the rear in color. The E's and some F paint schemes are
shown and there is also discussion of all schemes included. I'd recommend
it!! (And there are some books on this favorite railroad I have been known
not to recommend in my posts, too!) Just a note: They also did a second
volume on second generation diesels, which makes it a nice two-volume set.
