N&W F units

Did the "F" unit in the train Bellevue to Buffalo stay on line for the 250  
mile
run ?  On or about January 16, 1976, Eng 3671 was dispatched in a  three-
unit consist to make a Buffalo-Conneaut, Ohio turn.  With  temperatures
hovering around -10 degree F, and with 32 inches of snow on the  ground, 
surely
the tax police wouldn't be out.   They didn't have to be.   The 3671 showed
its allegiance by crapping out before it ever left Buffalo  Terminal.
