H-11 (?) hoppers

Cor-ten is a poor material for hopper cars since the protective coating of rust on the surface is wiped off by the coal being unloaded.

  What ever happened to the 85-ton hoppers (H-11's ?) N&W constructed with
  weathering steel ?  The steel used (called Cor-ten) was to avoid painting
  the cars, yet the cars were stenciled.  Following a hard coupling,  portions
  of the car's identification would flake off and fall to the ground.
