Another facet of this question (which I have raised on this-here dern List, but without receiving an answer) is the matter of the Station Numbers.

Sometime in the 1930s, the Station Numbers were revised. Originally the Station Numbers had been in some form tied to the Mile Posts, but in the 1930s they were revised to reflect actual mileage from Norfolk. Elliston, for instance, had been Station Number 279, but became new Station Number 272.

I have seen the 1932 Official List of Stations, Agents, Officers &c, which gives the old numbers. By 1940, the Official List was using the new numbers. I'd really like to get a fix on when the change was made.

(I am NOT talking about "statistical numbers," but "Station Numbers.")
