COLLISION ON YARDS

Freight Crashes Into Rear End of Another

There was a collision between two freight trains in the yards here on
the Shenandoah Valley division near the gas house yesterday about
8:30 a.m. The cab and one box car on the trains were demolished but
no one was injured and no damage was done to the engine. It seems
that one freight train had pulled out and gone around the curve when
the second started. For some reason the first train had stopped or
was going very slow and the second coming out at a considerable rate
of speed crashed into the rear end. No one was in the cab at the
time but the engine crushed through it and into a box car.

The wreckage was soon cleared up and the trains proceeded on to Shenandoah.
