Some time ago a report was published in this paper as emanating from
Bluefield to the the effect that Mr. George P. Johnson, superintendent of
the Scioto Division, would be elected to the superintendency of the Western
Division provided for in the division of the road what will go into effect
the first of July. It would seem from the above that the report as sent out
from Bluefield was rather right.
All three of the above men are good railroaders, having gained their
knowledge of the great business from years of hard experience. Mr. Blake,
who succeeds Mr. Johnson as superintendent of the Scioto Division, is at
present superintendent of the Shenandoah Division; Mr. Carey, who succeeds
Mr. Blake, is now assistant superintendent of the Pocahontas Division.
Many who know of the records of the various railroad mere were expecting
the appointment of Mr. J. W. Cook to the general superintendency, in view
of his seniority as a division superintendent.
