PLANS CONSIDERED FOR RAILWAY EXTENSION

Kindrick, Va., June 28. -- Special. A railroad meeting was held
Wednesday at Edgewater, near hear, for the purpose of considering a
proposed extension of railway into this section. Several plans and
propositions were considered. Extensions from Troutdale and Fries in
this state, Mountain City, Tenn., and Elkin and Wilkesboro, N.C. were
considered.
A local company will be organized to build a short line of railway
from Troutdale to mouth of Wilson. The railway agitation now on in
this section was occasioned by the sale recently of the Ballou iron
mines to the Virginia Iron, Coal and Coke Company. There are several
engineers, both mining and civil, now engaged in investigating the
resources. It is reported from reliable authority that in the opinion
of several mining experts who recently came here, that this section
will prove to be one of the richest mining regions in the country.
