Many items are recycled or remanufactured. There was an article in the Roanoke Times last year on a program that Cycle Systems here in Roanoke had started in which they overhaul the diesel engines out of scrapped locomotives to make a portable generator package for export to use in third world countries to provide temporary or even semi-permanent electric service to small towns or construction projects.

I saw the show too. Pretty interesting. My question is this: What happens to the scrap from the loco's, the body panels and engine itself? They didn't explain that as I recall.
