Roanoke Shops Have Reduced Working Hours
------
Roanoke, Va., July 7. -- The Norfolk and Western posted notices yesterday in the shops that, beginning with that date, the men would be allowed to work only eight hours, and that no pay would be granted for overtime work until further notice, unless specially ordered. This, with the reduction of the time made some weeks ago from ten to nine hours, is a 20 per cent cut, and affects about 10,000 men. The roundhouse force was divided into two shifts, and these men will be given employment only every other day.
