So far there has been a lot of friction, and it has been anything but successful. There was a writeup in the Bristol paper the other day about it, and the Bristol city council may be getting ready to abandon the plan. First Train on New Road

Bristol, Va., Nov. 22 -Special- The first passenger train to be run
over the Lee county extension of the Virginian & Southwestern
Railroad will make the trip next Monday. It will be train No. 3,
which leaves Bristol in the early morning. This train will, after
Sunday next, make the round trip daily between Bristol and St.
Charles, in Lee county, Virginia. The distance between Bristol and
St. Charles is 90 miles. The length of the Black Mountain extension,
which lies between Appalachia and St. Charles is 23 miles.
