In the book "Classic Steam Trains of the South" page 117 is a photo of the
APC special westbound at the west end of Crewe yard. The consist appears to
be the same as the Pearisburg photo. Looks like 8 Pm and /or P3 coaches
with 2 DE diners mid train spliced by a tavern-lounge car. Total of 11
cars. Photo and commentary by Curt Tillotson Jr who says the train was
chartered for a Roanoke-Norfolk round trip, August 1959. Any possibility
that the train originated in Bluefield and picked up APC employees west of
Roanoke?
