"Holiday" for Railroad Men

Another holiday is to be given to the men at the Norfolk & Western
shops. Notice was given to them yesterday that the shops would be
closed today and Saturday. This means that the men will make this
week only four days of eight hours, or thirty-two hours altogether.
They had hoped and expected that they would make this week at least
five days of eight hours, but fate was against them. For the past
three weeks, the shops have been given a considerable amount of
holiday, and, from all accounts, they are beginning to regard
"holiday" as somewhat of a tragical burlesque.
