TWO MORE MAILS

N. & W. Gets Mail for Mississippi and Points in Southwest

The announcement that the big amount of mail for Mississippi and
other points in the far South and Southwest, which has in the past
been hauled by the Southern railway, will in future be handled by the
Norfolk and Western, has been received here with much gratification
by all who want to see the Norfolk and Western prosper, and, of
course, that means everybody in Roanoke.
This mail, it was explained this morning, will be hauled by trains
No. 41 and 42, which pass through Roanoke. No. 42 about midnight and
No. 41 early in the morning. These trains are known as the Washington
and Chattanooga limited, and they have been running for several years.
This change by the postoffice department, it is said, is due to
the fact that the Southern railway has eliminated recently several of
its fast through trains, and the department found that it could
handle this mail to better advantage over the Norfolk and Western
than over the Southern.
