MAY GET No. 43

Reported That Southern Train May be Put on N. & W. Road Soon

It is reported from Lynchburg that the Southern railway may in the
near future run train No. 43 over the Norfolk and Western railroad
owing to the fact that the Southern will be able to get better
connections for the mail for several of the southern states from its
terminal south of Bristol than is now the case out of Atlanta.
It will be recalled that last Sunday morning the Southern
established new postal routes on trains 41 and 42 between Lynchburg
and Washington, extending the Bristol-Lynchburg route to Washington,
in order to get better connections for mail destined to Mississippi,
Alabama, and other states west of Mississippi. It may be that this
report originated after this change and nothing has been given out in
an authentic way as yet about it.
Under the present mail arrangements, it is believed, the mail for
the Carolinas and Georgia can be handled on train No. 35, without the
aid of No. 43, and it would not be surprising to see the reported
change go into effect shortly.
