Good Joke on a Roanoke Citizen
------
Roanoke News. -- The story that the engineers of the Tidewater Railway company had surveyed a route in the northwest section of the city is all a hoax. The story originated from a joke that was played on a well known and prosperous citizen of that section of the city. He is a large owner of real estate, and Saturday night a "gang" started in at the West End round house and staked off a route that was directly through the property of the victim of the joke and kept on until they had passed Park street. It is said that when the gentleman in question awoke on Sunday morning and learned of the "survey" that his property increased in value about 50 per cent. The joke was too good to keep and the "boys" let the cat out of the bag today."
