N & W book

Today I received a book from a friend of mine titled  "The Norfolk and Western Strike of 1978" it was written by Robert E. Bedingfield  and it was copywright 1979 by the Norfolk and Western Railway  it has a foreward in it by John P. Fishwick  President and Chief Executive Officer.
Does any one know or can they give me a little history on this book?  This book looks like there is some interesting reading in it.
