Roanoke Shop

Generally one large locomotive per month, although they did slightly better during WWII. But they could build two S1a switchers per month, as one S1a was about half of a Y6b. Of course they were overhauling other locomotives while all this was going on, so that probably had some influence on shop capacity. But the rate at which the boiler shop could make new boilers was probably the limiting factor. Jim Nichols

What was the capacity of Roanoke Shop to build locomotives? (on a per month basis) Could they have built 2 per month, more?

Thanks,

John R.
