IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Railroad to Rocky Gap

Right-of-way has been secured from Day's, in Giles county, to Rocky Gap, in Bland county [both in Virginia], for a new railroad that already runs from the Norfolk and Western, at the mouth of Wolf Creek, to Day's. Work on the extension will begin soon and the people of Rocky Gap are greatly elated over the prospect of having railroad communication with the outside world. [This was the New River, Holston and Western RR, later the Narrows Branch of the N&W.]
------
Brotherhood Chairman Here

A. M. Cousins, of Norfolk, Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers of the Norfolk and Western, was in the city yesterday on official business.
------
Bluefield Inn Sale

The furniture and equipment of Bluefield Inn was sold at public auction yesterday and many attended the sale throughout the day. The silver and some of the furniture and carpets were shipped to Roanoke where they will be overhauled and placed in other hotels of the company [N&W]. The Inn has been here as long as the town almost, and many of the inhabitants and the men on the road will miss it when it has become a full fledged office building [Division offices for the N&W.]
