While on the subject of Buena Vista, I am curious for the location of the
plant in Buena Vista where tannic acid was made from chestnut bark until it
died out in the 1930's when they used only oak bark. My guess is that the
operation was in the "flats" south of the N&W station. That was quite an
interesting railroad area at one time with both the N&W and C&O on shared
trackage for a little distance.
