IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Mallet Engines for Clinchfield
Mallet engines consigned to the Carolina, Clinchfield and Ohio, from Baldwin Locomotive Works, passed through the city yesterday on their way to the new road. The engines are somewhat smaller than the type made for the Norfolk and Western and are even smaller than the engines made for this road by the American Locomotive Company. The Carolina, Clinchfield and Ohio will also have a consignment of passenger coaches which will pass through this city in a few days.
------
[It looks as though the interchange between the N&W and CC&O at St. Paul, VA, was the most convenient point for the latter to receive new equipment, at least from the north.]
