FOUR SISTERS WIDOWED BY RAILROAD ACCIDENTS
------
Married Engineers Who Were Killed Under Their Own Engines
C. T. Pilcher, whose death in a wreck on the Chesapeake and Ohio was noticed in the Daily Telegraph several days ago, was the last of four locomotive engineers who married four sisters and each one of those men has gone to death under their own engines and all four sisters are widows and living today. The story is one of an exceptional nature.
Pilcher was the last to die of the four, all of whom were killed in wrecks. The Misses Garner lived with their parents in Culpepper county, Va., where they were married. Miss Carrie Garner married Edward C. Callahan, who was killed in a wreck on the C. & O. near Hinton, May 17, 1897.
Miss Lee Garner married William E. Trainer, engineer on the B. & O. who was killed in a wreck in the Pennsylvania stock yards at St. Joe, Indiana, June 22, 1903.
Miss Maggie Garner married James Collins, B. & O. engineer, who was killed in a wreck at Sherwood, Ohio, December 29, 1905, when his engine split a switch.
Miss Florence Garner married C. T. Pilcher who was killed May 2, 1911, in a wreck on the C. & O. near Alaska, W. Va. He was the last of the husbands of four sisters to go to death in this manner.
