New Billing Machine
    The Norfolk and Western auditing department has furnished the agent here, Mr. Pile, with an up-to-date Underwood billing machine.  These machines are only used at the large shipping points, such as Graham, Columbus and Cincinnati.

Thanks, Gordon, for transcribing the news article.  I wonder if anyone knows what an Underwood "billing machine" looked like?  Also, I wonder if there was a set of standard office equipment provided to agencies, such as typewriter, adding machine, or copying press.
