NOTHING TO GIVE OUT
------
Retiring General Superintendent Doesn't Know Who Successor Will Be
George P. Johnson [N&W General Superintendent going to the DT&I] left last night for Roanoke on train No. 16. Before leaving Mr. Johnson said there was nothing to give out regarding his successor because the appointment has not yet been made. He said he had not been relieved of his duties as yet and had not been informed when it would be satisfactory for him to resign. From Roanoke, it is understood, Mr. Johnson will go direct to the west.
One interesting feature in connection with the appointment of Mr. Johnson as receiver is the fact that there is a general superintendency on the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton, which was made vacant a few days ago by the resignation of the gentleman holding that position. While local railroad men have not been figuring on this position several of them are waiting for the lightning to strike.
A report received yesterday from Roanoke said W. J. Jenks or J. T. Carey .would be appointed to succeed Mr. Johnson. This report said there would be very few changes, intimating that the successor probably would be Mr. Jenks. No one positively knows, however, who will be appointed, but it is said it will be announced today at Roanoke.
