Boones Mill Depot -- Two Different Meetings?

There was an "emergency" or "crisis" meeting on Monday night in Boones Mill
to talk about preserving the N&W depot, which is in danger of being
demolished if it isn't moved away from trackside. The Roanoke Times reports
that the meeting was "heated" and accusations were thrown at the town
manager and town council over their lack of interest and support for the
project. WDBJ-TV reports that the town manager "threw his support behind
the preservation effort." So either one of the reporters missed something
or mis-interpreted what was said, or there were two different meetings that
took place. The RT story is at

Bottom line is that the preservation group needs both money and a place to
move the building (which was the crux of the meeting, the town said "no" to
a town lot). Papers have been filed for a demolition permit, but that is
still in the works with no date set. Plans are to appeal to Wick Moorman
for a delay in any action or other alternatives to save the 1880s depot.
