This drawing also answers the question about the significance of the
"31215". You'll see many instances in many contexts of the pattern number
appearing somewhere in a casting. Truck frames may be the best-known example,
but as this shows, it's a common practice.

Subject: Need Help - No Trespassing Sign


This cast iron no trespassing sign was acquired at the train show in
Gaithersburg, MD. The sign measures 8" H x 14" W and has an identifying number
of "31215" in the lower right corner. I've never seen one like this before,
even in photos from the N&W era. Where would a sign like this have been
found? Any information is appreciated.
