Several years ago, during an NRHS Convention, took the complete Grand
Central tour. Was most impressed by the original power plant on the
lowest level. The AC to DC converters are out of service; but all
equipment still there (probably no convenient way to remove it). Room
was uncomfortably hot - must have been hell when the converters were in
use. Later, located and printed track plans for the station and
throat. How fortunate that GCT has been preserved, avoiding the fate
of Penn Station.
