Ah, I see now that while I was working on my outdoor railroad ( not really
working on the tracks), NS installed a turnout on the near track. I am
guessing that the device pulled/pushed is to check gauge and level. There
was another track machine which seemed to clear the ballast from next to the
rail (I am guessing). Looking for info about the activity.

A few days ago, a string of ties was removed from the site in view of the
camera.

Today there is a lot of work being done (I have seen none of it in progress
until now): 

 -covering the nearest track probably to protect it from equipment running
over it

-a new switch assembly has been delivered

 

Does anyone know just what is going to be done. Or should we just watch and
be surprised? 

Has anything been done just to the east of the camera view?
