caboose interior color

Cabooses were painted a pea-green inside. I think it was the same shade of green used in steam engine cabs. Around 1960, the interior color was changed to gray.

The oak tongue-and-groove floors were painted dark red. The grab irons in the cupola, and the heavy pipe which was suspended from the ceiling and ran longitudinally through the length of the caboose (serving as an overhead grab iron to protect oneself from slack action) were painted black. The the exterior side of the roof, and the top of the cupola, were also black.
