BOONES MILL DEPOT UPDATE -

Here is an update on the status of the N&W depot at Boones Mill, VA, 
from Mike Smith, co-chair of the Boones Mill Depot Restoration 
committee and also town councilman.  Roanoke Chapter and Blue Ridge 
Chapter made generous donations to the restoration project.

  "Progress on the depot is moving ahead, an agreement has just been 
reached with Norfolk Southern about crossing the tracks for the move, 
Monday, June 30th is the date that we will start to prepare the depot 
for the move.  The loading dock will be removed and underpinning 
removed.  Then within a few days after that the move will take place, 
it will be moved approximately 600 yards down the tracks to the town 
of Boones Mill property."  Mike says the TV and print media will be 
notified before the move takes place, so keep a lookout for this information.
