I have been told that it has been for a while now. Taking less time to

get back to where ever they are loaded.



Kinda interesting.  Some utility companies (Dominion for one)

own or lease hoppers.  Since the railroad doesn't supply the

hoppers, the owner (lessee) gets a rebate (depending on the

depreciated value of the car).  If the hopper train had NS

hoppers, it wouldn't apply, but with privately owned hoppers,

each rakes in about $0.15 or more per mile.  Harry Bundy
