NS purchased the UP SD90s and the CSX SD80s for a rebuild program. That way
NS is grandfathered on the rebuild without purchasing new locos with all the
latest garbage required by EPA etc. Smart way to get a new loco cheap.

PS: Ns has repainted one of the CSX SD80s and left the class lights on the
locomotive.

They said the paint department does not do remove them.

I saw two of these pass the Rail Heritage cam in Roanoke last night.  It is
interesting that this unit has the "We will deliver" slogan. I was told
years ago that UP had to discontinue using that slogan because it infringed
on the US Post Office's "We Deliver" trademark. Was this unit in storage for
a long time or did they just miss removing the slogan from this one?
