Do we really need to get into divisive politics over a business decision?
There is also ample proof on the other side that the coal industry is and
has been in decline for years and not because of the EPA. Soft markets
overseas and increased competition from other countries, cheaper fuels, and
rising costs to mine Eastern coal have had a bigger impact than any
perceived "hate" of anything by anyone.

NS (New Southern) is a business beholden to stockholders and decisions are
made to ensure that money keeps flowing to those who invest in the
corporation. It is just interesting to see how much of the former Norfolk &
Western has borne the brunt of the changes, reductions, and closures.
Probably the only thing saving the Pokey main is the investment in
improvements to move doublestacks between the excellent port in Hampton
Roads and the Midwest.
