>From Railroad Gazette, September 19, 1874, vol. 6, page 366:

About 6 o'clock on the morning of the 26th [of September,] as the first section of a freight train on the Atlantic Mississippi & Ohio was stopping at Windsor, Va., the second section ran into its rear, wrecking its own engine and the caboose of the first section and killing the fireman. It is said that both engineman and fireman of the second train were asleep and woke up too late to stop their train.
