middle siding signals

Jim,

I have managed to enlarge the photo somewhat. I see the signal for
eastbounds on the westbound main is set at stop and stay. But I think i
see additional lights that would allow it signal to display "advance
approach", "approach diverging" and "diverging clear"in addition to the
usual "clear", "approach" and "stop and proceed". But keep in mind,
just because there are signal heads that could display those additional
aspects, it does not mean they had the wiring to do so. We don't know
why that the "restricting" aspect cannot be displayed. The wiring for
such an aspect could have been too expensive to include in the opinion
of the head of C&S. The center siding may not have been on a circuit and
special instructions in the employee timetable rules instructed that any
move pass through that siding at restricting speed. I'd try to find an
emp tt from that time to see what it dictated, then we can reconvene if
necessary.
