blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } Thanks Ron Davis et al, for the updates. I know y'all work hard, and planning a gathering ain't easy work for those voluntarily diving into the trenches and shoveling. Your labor is appreciated.

Okay, so the convention dates are posted, but I could not find NO
information on what presentations, what banquet information and speaker,
what convention cost registrations, etc. were, other than hotel costs and
the days. before signing up, shouldn't these details or even a few of them
be out there for the masses to see? We are less than 2 months away from the
event!

It wasn't unusual to see hy-cube box cars in No. 4's consist.  They
were easily identified as Ford "shut down" cars.  Seems there were
some tax advantages, so Ford believed in a "just in time" inventory.
Ford parts en route to the Norfolk Plant would arrive in No. 86 at
Portlock and be spotted to be used on the assembly line the same
day.  So if a parts car was mishandled or bad ordered, it was
expedited to Norfolk in No. 4 (and maybe No. 26) to avoid shutting
the assembly line down.

At one time, the Norfolk plant got a  new manager and it seems every
Friday, the assembly line would be short a parts car.  Ford would fly
the parts in. to avoid a shut down.  It developed that the plant manager
never moved his family from Detroit and he would  get a "freeby" flight on
the parts plane.                                                  Harry Bundy

Subject: Reminder : GOB east moved up a week, to May 20 ( This

Just a reminder, 'word on the street'  GOB east is 'This' weekend. May 20.

Which works out as the regular Saturday workday 4th weekend of the month
would be on the the Memorial Day weekend. Monday May 29, holiday.

So if anyone would like to work this Saturday May 20 @ GOB east  or would
like to visit and see the progress of archiving, come on by.  We're always
looking for a reason for a break : )
There is always a new/old map found, and leads to some good discussion.

Best regards
rob
