The Crockett family have been in Wythe county since the mid 18th century. Crockett’s Cove is named for Lt. John Crockett who fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain during the Revolutionary War and seems to have been the father of Alamo hero Davy Crockett.

The too-quick response would be Crockett is about 5 miles east of Rural Retreat at the beginning of the siding by the same name.

I'm looking at the AM&O annual report from 1874, where it describes building a depot building and platform at "Crocket's." Is this the same Shawsville station which I asked about earlier as "Alleghany Station" in my stereoviews by a New York photographer? There is a Crockett Springs Road up by that same area, and I'm guessing that it's all the same place.
