 Jimmy,
The Motive Power & Equipment book for Company Service Equipment, January 1, 1982, lists the car as follows;
INIT.-- NW  /   NUMBER -  6,  /  DESCRIPTION -  RIDER  /   Kind --  M125  /   Length  - o-oo  /  LT-WT -  LBS 3,790  /   Orig. Build Date -- 1918  / Made From POL (note-POLE CAR)  /  Convert Date 3/18  /  Dept.  -   CT  /   Remarks: Roke Shop Yard Crew.
I worked on the car many times (with Buddy and others). It was very necessary in the shops. You could not ride the sides of cars due to the almost continuous "Close Clearances" around , in, and through the yards and buildings. It had a large barrel just under the hood(off an F-M) which was our heater during the cold and rainy times.The poor little Hobby Horse was tamed  one day, then served out his time on top of the hood. Sometime in the '80s, I believe, the hood was replaced with a sheet metal box with passenger car windows. Now for a real rarity, the newly built cab was lettered NS with the Horses Head emblem. After a very short while, some foreman in the Shops declared that the car should remain "NW" , so the Horse was unceremoniously beheaded from the car!

If anyone has a photo of the Rider car WITH the Horse, please share it with us!

What do we truly know about the pedigree of car pictured below? I know Cond. Buddy St. John used it on the East End job in Roanoke Term. Is it considered a transfer cab or what? I can't find any other photos of this car in the archives, do any others exist?
