Happy Holidays to all train and Santa Claus lovers,
There's a famous quote that goes like "Things just don't happen!" How true friends. In all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays sometimes we forget that volunteers are what makes things happen. Each year Roanoke Chapter, National Railway Historical Society members team up with the Virginia Museum of Transportation workers to bring joy to our children and grandchildren by hosting the Candy Cane Express at the VMT in beautiful downtown Roanoke, Va. Roanoke is the Star City of the South and also the mecca for Norfolk and Western Steam. So bring your little ones to ride the Candy Cane Express and also while you are there see the famous "N&W Magnificent Three", the "A", the "J" and the "Y".  These three famous locos won't be together forever. I never thought that I would ever see them together again. I think VMT members get in free. Train rides are an extra $3.00. Make sure to ask about special VMT membership deals!
