 According to my Dad's notes, The N&W mail cars from that era were in the 200 series. Could the number be 99, instead of 89? One of his notes suggests that this may be the original number of a Shenandoah Valley car, later renumbered in the N&W series. Just my guess.

When did publication of the Passenger Car Register begin?  I am trying to determine whether the N&W or another railroad had a wooden 30-feet apartment Railway Post Office car number 89 during the 1890s.  A photo of four Railway Mail Clerks with Owney in the doorway is attached.
