John:No. 18 originated at Bristol that day.  A Southern Rwy. public timetabledated November 20, 1970 indicates Southern no longer provided apassenger train connection at Bristol.  Annulment of passenger servicebetween Knoxville and Bristol may  may have occurred before that date.For an assignment on the Radford Division in October, I rode #17 toBristol one Sunday night.  Most passengers got off the train at Christians-burg for VPI, some at Radford, and one or two at Abingdon.
