I saw this the other day while in Roanoke. There could be a few great uses for that, once fixed up. A school bus stop shelter would be good. Can you imagine all the kids getting in there? Of course, they’d have to fight off all us old steam fans fighting our way in first. J I wonder if there’s a way to determine what it’s engine number was.

Subject: Re: N&W steam loco cab

There is an N&W steam locomotive cab available for sale in Roanoke. It appears to be from an early 20th century N&W loco, perhaps an M2. The cab was repurposed as a control booth or some such at Roanoke locomotive shops and was there at least during the early 1960s. It was located on private property near Roanoke for many years and was recently rescued from the woods when the property was sold. The current owner has tacked heavy metal skids under it to facilitate moving and is seeking information about the cab and would like to sell it to someone who respects its historical value. I have his permission to share his contact information with the N&WHS. If you're interested he may be reached at 540-589-3704 (Mike). The cab is currently located on Shenandoah Avenue across from Shaffer's crossing. Best regards, -Ed Burnett, Lynchburg, Virginia
