Abe,

I know only the approximate (close but not exact) locations for the relocated line. That project began in 1887-88 and was completed in 1890 as part of the first double tracking which was between Radford and Christiansburg.

Subject: Charlton Grade on the Radford Division - Gaynor Harman

I am doing a little vignette on Gaynor Harman (1891-1956,) Radford Division telegrapher and father of our own friend, William M. (Bill) Harman, also an N&W telegrapher.

Gaynor's family was from Vicker Switch and, according to his son Bill, was given the name Gaynor in honor of a Philadelphia contractor was was involved in construction of the Charlton Grade eastward from Vicker. (The name Charlton came from the Charlton family who had lands along Crab Creek, east of Vicker Switch... the word is often mispronounced as CharlESton.)

Two questions:

1. I need the Mile Post + Tenth for each end of the line relocation known as the Charlton Grade.

2. Does anyone know the year the relocation was constructed?

Thanks for any help you can give.
