According to Louis Newton, the last 2/26 arrived Norfolk onJan. 2, 1957.  At the U.S. 17 crossing west of Bridge 7, oneof the sections struck an automobile.  As usual, the highwaypatrolman asked the engineer what the speed of the train wasat the time of the collision (about 12:30 AM).   The engineertold the patrolman he didn't know.  So the patrolman figuresthe engineer is too occupied with stopping the train.                                                   Harry Bundy
