I am reattaching the 1955 schedule for the LYNCHBURG & DURHAM SR.  Two contract numbers are shown and so there may have been two different contractors.  Trips 1 through 4 are assigned to one contract while trips 5 through 8 are covered by the other contract.  All that is shown are the contract numbers and not the transportation service provider names.  That identity information would appear in postal contract records that are not available to me.

You mentioned a bus route but it is more likely that these Star Route (SR) contract services were performed by a box truck and not a bus.  Bus companies did handle some SR contracts but I think it was unlikely for the LYNCHBURG & DURHAM SR.  If you can locate a Russell's Guide for 1955, you can check whether any scheduled services correspond to the times show in the attached timetable.
