Harry, Thx for the details. Do you figure all 5 of these c.1946 arrivals and departures were Rail Bus service? A 19 mile, rough ride on oyster shells could seem like a long trip to the beach, especially with kids and luggage. All part of the fun I suppose if you were Gordon : ) John Garner

How long was their regular run? Smooth riding? John Garner

John:

NS railway's Beach Division Time Table #7 eff. 12:01 AM 09/29/1946

shows 5 NS trains originating and 5 NS trains terminating at Terminal

Station daily. Arrivals and departures co-ordinated with N&W Nos. 15/16,3/4,

etc. Distance from Terminal Station to Cavalier (station for the Cavalier

Hotel) was 19.4 miles. Now remember that NS-VGN-N&W had to cover

expenses for Terminal Station and this was done in a principle know as

JOINT FACILITY ACCOUNTING. In other words, all the Terminal's expenses

were dumped in a bucket, and distributed for payment by a per centage of

trains handled, or some other divisor. There were also 5 trains originating

and terminating at Park Avenue (0.6 mi. from Terminal Station). Since they

didn't enter Terminal Station, they didn't participate. Harry Bundy _
