Subject: Origin of Switchback

Good Evening All,

I stumbled across more information of 50’s era Switchback. In the Volume 4 edition of the 2013 Arrow, Louis Newton’s Rails Remembered Ch.83 is featured. This article includes copies of Louis’ hand drawn track maps between MP N366 and N421. On page 19 are his maps of the Switchback/Maybeury locations. It looks like the re-alignment may have left a small spur near the substation, but that the switches were mostly for servicing the Norfolk-Angle Coal Operation. Y’all check it out and see what you think. Cool Topic!

Thank Ya’n Out,
Chris Dalton
