signal brackets

This thread strayed far from the original question about curved brackets on
signal masts. To continue the original discussion, I seem to remember
someone on the list mentioning that the N&W repurposed older masts that
held semaphore signals to hold the "newer" round signals. I believe an
example was the signal in Dublin just west of the VA 100 bridge at the end
of double track. Perhaps that explains some of the difference between
curved and angled.
