Mr. Burnett,
Your depth of railroad detail (and turnips) never ceases to amaze me.
Although the location is probably not in the Norfolk Division, would you happen to know the telegraph call for the Rural Retreat depot? I ask because my grandfather worked at that location.
Many thanks for any information that you may provide and I hope the current drought conditions have not adversely affected this year's crop.
Thanks again,
Richard Huddle
Delaware, OH

Subject: Norfolk Division Telegraph Calls -- List rev 9-11-2024

It has been more than 3 years since I went over, cleaned up and revised my little list of N&W Norfolk Division Telegraph Calls. Today was the day to 'git 'er done. ☺

At this point, my guess is that we have 98% of the calls which were ever used on the Norfolk Division. It is the odd ones which are hard to pick up, viz. the calls for those temporary offices which were used for only a short time as the double track was being extended. (Mr. Blackstock has been a real miracle-worker in this department.)

The Pocahontas Division is my weakness. I never worked on that territory, have no conception of its developmental history, and do not understand its many branches and traffic flows, and never had access to the informational basis (all the Time Tables) necessary to do thorough research. So, if anyone wants to work with me on the Pokie list, my telegraph line is open ...

Tach'mint.
