Trestles and bridges and profiles OH MY!

I have built several wood trestles over the past 7 plus years. I have also
built several stone arch bridges. All n scale except for one of the stone
arch bridges I did in HO. All the drawings have come from the NWHS
archives.

My last project is of a trestle #2027 that was west of Beaver Pond, Ohio on
a section of the original Cincinnati district between Rarden and Peebles.
In 2008 we documented the old line up to the east side of Cedar Fork where
bridge #2027 crossed. The profile on the drawing matches the actual terrain
as it is very steep. This steep profile is what I was hoping to achieve,
but it didn't work out.

Going by the dimensions on the drawing I built the bents accordingly. The
space between the bents varied slightly so I used 15 feet between them.
After completing the 20- two story bents in the center, I built the 7 bents
for the east end. The problem is the profile was no where near the profile
of the drawing. My model profile had a slight taper up to the abutment.

I used another much smaller trestle drawing of #2002, which was just west
of Vera Junction just to see if I got the same results. I did. After
printing the drawing for n scale for the height of the bents it was the
same thing. The bridge is 1,875 inches tall and should be almost 10 inches
but the length is about 3 1/2 inches long.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the profile and height?

The two drawing numbers are #2002 HS-A10187 and #2027 HS-C06989.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.
